In an exciting announcement, production has finally started on the highly-anticipated sequel The Equalizer 3. The new film once again unites star Denzel Washington with returning director Antoine Fuqua. In addition, it looks like the film will be revealing some exciting new faces to the cast as well. Fans can also expect to see both Dakota Fanning and Gaia Scodellaro in the film.
The group can be pictured standing with one another in a series of photos shared in an official announcement. The announcement, as shared by Sony Pictures, also reveals that the film is currently shooting on the Amalfi Coast, Italy. As such, it’ll be great to see what other locations might be used for the film in the near future. Now that production is already underway – it shouldn’t be much longer before more details arrive.

As mentioned above, Antoine Fuqua has returned to direct the film from a screenplay penned by Richard Wenk. The film will be produced by Fuqua, Washington, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch. More casting updates are to be expected as production on the new film continues.
Fans will remember that the Equalizer series of films are based on the classic CBS series of the same name. The series initially ran for four seasons between 1985 and 1989. The previous two Equalizer films starring Denzel Washington have been considered quite successful, with a combined worldwide gross of more than $190 million. It’ll be interesting to see how well The Equalizer 3 does as a result. Furthermore, there is another Equalizer series now airing based on the original show. It features Queen Latifah as the titular character.
