It appears that close to the release of the latest Halloween film, Halloween Ends, a man in a Michael Myers mask was shot by a Las Vegas police officer. The chain of events first began on October 10, where a man phoned police at 5:19 PM. They informed police that a man pulled a gun on him at the Martin Luther King Jr. stature located on the corner of MLK and Carey.

As noted via Patch, the man was said to be “threatening and pointing his gun” at a number of people at the scene. This was further iterated with a second person’s call at 5:39 PM where it was stated a man pulled a gun at the Carey Mini Mart. He aimed his weapon at several customers before leaving.

It was further stated that after the first officer arrived, he “repeatedly asked the suspect to stop, put his hands up, and not reach for his firearm.” This was emphasized in the official statement from the department. However, they also noted that the officer’s commands were ignored. As such, the suspect removed their firearm with “numerous bystanders in the immediate vicinity.”

As a result, the officer fired at the masked individual. While “lifesaving measures were rendered to the suspect by offers,” the suspect died on the spot. Here’s the video featuring the man in the Michael Myers mask who was shot:

The officer was soon after “placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.” As such, it’s worth noting that the suspect did not have the opportunity to harm any civilians with their firearm. It’s unfortunate, however, that the event had to happen at all. And, of course, the use of a Michael Myers mask by the man who was shot is certainly an awful misuse for a work of fiction.
