Over the years, a number of sequels to A Christmas Story have been produced. Many of these sequels had little connection with the original film, often featuring new cast members to tell their stories. This, however, is about to change with the release of A Christmas Story Christmas on HBO Max. As you can see below, A Christmas Story star Peter Billingsley has returned as Ralphie – as revealed in the first teaser trailer shared below.
This is certainly an exciting reveal for fans of the original Christmas-themed classic film. Over the decades, with each of the new sequels released, it seemed less and less likely that any of these projects would ever fully respect the original film. Now A Christmas Story Christmas looks like it’ll be correcting those misdirects.

Fans will be able to see the new sequel as soon as next month. So, with that in mind, we’ll likely have the full trailer in the near future. Until then, however, this is a great look at what’s to come and it’s even better that fans won’t have long to wait. Hopefully this film will deliver unlike the previous attempts at continuations over the years.
The new film was directed by Clay Kaytis from a screenplay written by Nick Schenk.
The cast for the film stars original A Christmas Story actor Peter Billingsley as Ralphie. He’s also attached to the film as an executive producer alongside Schenk and his partner Vince Vaughn via Wild West Picture Show Productions. A number of other stars from the original film will also be returning including Zack Ward as Scut Farkus, Scott Schwartz as Flick, and R.D. Robb as Schwartz.
Fans will be able to stream A Christmas Story Christmas via HBO Max on November 17, 2022. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
