With the release of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, fans have been anxious for the next installment in the modern-day horror franchise. The films have successfully built an expanded universe surrounding The Conjuring and its sequels. This includes the spin-off films Annabelle, its many sequels, and The Nun. Now The Nun will be the next spin-off to receive its own continuation, titled The Nun 2, which has officially started production.
As you can see below, James Wan shared an image including the new logo for The Nun 2 to announce the production. He notes that the movie is currently filming in France. Furthermore, he gives director Michael Chaves (who previously directed the third Conjuring film) a shout-out. It’s certainly an exciting look at the upcoming film and one can’t hope but to see more in the near future.

Hopefully we’ll have more details soon. This film appears to have been in development almost since the first Nun film was released. As such, there’s a lot of hype surrounding the project and how it will further develop the Conjuring universe and the story of the demonic Valak.
Michael Chaves, director of The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, will be directing The Nun 2. The screenplay for the film was written by Akela Cooper.
Bonnie Aarons will once again play the titular nun aka Valak. Taissa Farmiga is set to reprise her role as Sister Irene from the first film. In addition, Storm Reid is also set to star. We should have more casting updates in the near future, especially now that production has started on The Nun 2.
Fans will be able to see The Nun 2 in theaters on September 8, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the highly-anticipated horror film sequel as we have them.
