When the film Blonde was rated NC-17, it was clear that some graphic material would be included. And, considering the film focuses on Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, it was a clear guarantee that nudity would be involved. Now Ana de Armas has stated that her nude scenes will more than likely go viral online after the release of the film – and it disgusts her.
She stated as much while speaking with Variety about the film. “I know what’s going to go viral,” she began. “And it’s disgusting.” One can only imagine that she’s referring to herself being nude in the upcoming film. And she further explained how she can’t control what people do with her scenes after the film is released.
“It’s upsetting just to think about it,” she continued. “I can’t control it; you can’t really control what they do and how they take things out of context.”
Of course, as a professional, she never wanted to back out of the Netflix film because of such things. In fact, she stated “I don’t think it gave me second thoughts.” She merely explained how it upsets her that the footage will be taken out of context. “It just gave me a bad taste to think about the future of those clips.”
With such strong feelings about her nude scenes in the film, it’s likely that some of these moments may deal with rape and sexual harassment. If that’s the case, then it makes sense why Ana de Armas would be so upset and disgusted about her nude scenes in the film going viral online.
The upcoming Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde was written and directed by Andrew Dominik. The film is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon, Brad Pitt, and Scott Robertson. It will also be the first streaming exclusive film to be rated NC-17.
The cast for the film includes Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, Adrien Brody as Arthur Miller, Bobby Cannavale as Joe DiMaggio, and Julianne Nicholson as Gladys Pearl Baker.
Blonde is currently streaming on Netflix.
