This year has been an exciting time for new horror films. And, with October coming up, it looks like the excitement is just getting started. While we already have such highly-anticipated releases as Halloween Ends on the way, it looks like we have a number of original projects hitting theaters as well. This includes Lionsgate’s upcoming horror film Prey for the Devil – for which they’ve just released a brand-new trailer.
While the possession subgenre contains a wide number of fan-favorite movies, Prey for the Devil looks like quite the addition. As you can see below, the new film focuses on Sister Ann who is actually the chosen one to stop a plague of demonic possession which has been spreading across the globe. Interestingly, however, Sister Ann will also be training to become the first female exorcist.
This certainly looks like the perfect film to see in October. It also appears to be a great twist on the possession subgenre. With such classics as The Exorcist and even modern takes like The Exorcism of Emily Rose, it can be difficult to present captivating interpretations that still catch the attention of modern audiences. Hopefully Prey for the Devil, however, winds up being a celebrated new film.
Daniel Stamm directed Prey for the Devil from a screenplay written by Robert Zappia. The story for the new horror project was penned by Robert Zappia alongside Earl Richey Jones and Todd R. Jones. Paul Brooks, Todd R. Jones, Earl Richey Jones, and Jessica Malanaphy produced the film.
The upcoming horror film stars Jacqueline Byers, Colin Salmon, Christian Navarro, Nicholas Ralph, Ben Cross, and Academy Award Nominee Virginia Madsen.
Fans will be able to see Prey for the Devil in theaters on October 28, 2022. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
