The DCEU franchise has expanded in a number of interesting ways in recent years. Furthermore, we’ve seen an overhaul at Warner Bros recently that put an even bigger change on the growing franchise. With films like Batgirl completely cancelled, and other stand-alone films like the upcoming Joker sequel on the way, it’s hard to tell what they have in store for the brand. As such, many fans are uncertain whether or not Margot Robbie would return to play Harley Quinn. But, as The Suicide Squad director James Gunn would have it, he confirms that Margot Robbie will indeed return.
He confirmed as much when a fan asked on Twitter whether or not Harley Quinn would return in the DCEU. And, as mentioned above, it’s not a bad question due to the cancellation of such films as Batgirl. It really is hard to see what Warner Bros has planned. But James Gunn has put any of those fears to rest, and he answered quite simply: yes.
As you can see below:
Yes.

This is certainly great news for fans of the character. The Margot Robbie interpretation of Harley Quinn most recently appeared in James Gunn’s R-rated blockbuster The Suicide Squad. And, just before that, she appeared in the film Birds of Prey otherwise known as Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). So, now that we’ve had a few years without the iconic character, it’d certainly be a great time to catch up with her again. Of course, given the ever-changing nature of the DCEU, it’s unclear exactly where she’ll appear next. But if James Gunn is eager to make it happen – then rest assured, it will.
In the meantime, fans will soon get to see another live-action take on the character. Lady Gaga is set to portray a new version of Harley Quinn for the sequel to Joker titled Joker: Folie à Deux. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates as we have them.
