Fans got their first look at the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe special Werewolf by Night at Disney’s 2022 D23 Expo. The first look included a trailer that revealed the special would have a serious classic monster movie style. In fact, the entire special appears to have been shot with black & white colors, giving it the style of something like Dracula or Frankenstein. As such, the special will be doing a lot to introduce Marvel’s darker horror elements, and that includes a special character beyond the titular Werewolf by Night.
Indeed, for those eagle-eyed fans, they’ll have noticed that the Werewolf by Night trailer actually introduced Man-Thing to the MCU.
What’s also exciting is that the footage of Man-Thing was rather clear. While his appearance is brief, it’s clear that the design is largely inspired by his look from the comic books. This seems to indicate that Marvel will continue their streak of comic book accurate costumes and designs. After the character previously appeared in a 2005 adaptation that was hated by fans and critics, it’ll be nice to see a MCU interpretation that does him justice.
Here’s a look at the MCU version of Man-Thing from the Werewolf by Night trailer below:

Of course, it’s unknown at this point how Man-Thing will figure into the plot of the new special. But one can only imagine that his cameo will lead to future appearances in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, as the franchise continues to move towards horror with upcoming projects like Blade, then the opportunities are endless.
The upcoming Werewolf by Night special was directed by Michael Giacchino. The screenplay was written by Taboo Nawasha and Benjamin Jackendoff.
Fans will be able to view the Werewolf by Night special next month on October 7, 2022 via Disney Plus. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
