The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been expanding in a number of ways in both film and television, and in live-action and animated mediums. In fact, following the introduction of varying alternate universes such as those witnessed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it looks like Marvel Studios is taking the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe very seriously. As such, Marvel has actually hired a timeline keeper whose sole job is to monitor the chronology of the franchise and ensure that everything fits together.
This was revealed by Jessica Gao, the head writer of the newly-released Disney Plus series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. She recently spoke with The Direct about her work on the series and how they were able to maintain the show’s position in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. At that point, she revealed that the Marvel Studios timeline keeper was consulted various times to make sure that the series plays out exactly where it should. This, she reveals, would be several years after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Here’s what she had to say:
“It’s definitely after– post-Endgame,” Gao began. “There actually is a Marvel person whose job it is to trace the timeline of everything. And we checked with him a lot about where the timing is. And so it’s like… the show is a few years after Endgame.”
With so many characters and timelines involved with She-Hulk, it certainly behooved the creative team to make sure everything made sense. As the MCU continues to expand, the timeline keeper will certainly be playing an important role in making sure everything flows smoothly. Hopefully this means there will be as few inconsistencies as possible with the franchise going forward.
Tatiana Maslany leads the cast of She-Hulk as Jennifer Walters aka the titular character. She’ll be joined by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner aka Hulk. Tim Roth also reprises his role as Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Ginger Gonzaga, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and the aforementioned Jameela Jamil also star.
The new Marvel Cinematic Universe series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is currently available to stream on Disney Plus. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding She-Hulk: Attorney at Law as we have them.
