It isn’t shocking at this point to imagine The Flash might be in trouble. After all, star Ezra Miller has been involved with a number of allegations and arrests this year. And, as we know all too well, that’s the quickest way to get cancelled. Of course, Warner Bros might not be so quick to shelf such an expensive movie. While they made that decision with Batgirl, The Flash is another story, and one that we might see hit theaters regardless of Ezra Miller’s actions. But many fans do hope to see Miller replaced as the character – and they’ve picked quite the actor for the job. In particular, fans are campaigning to have Grant Gustin replace Ezra Miller as The Flash.
As you can see below, many fans have vocalized themselves on Twitter about having Grant Gustin replace Ezra Miller.
While it’s unlikely that any such reshoots could happen, especially given the film’s massive budget and the amount of screen time that Ezra Miller has, it’s certainly an interesting choice. Especially considering that Grant Gustin has already played a variant of the character in the television series The Flash from The CW.
Here’s what some users have stated so far on the matter:
I vote Grant Gustin for The Flash movie. Has done the job, has no criminal allegations. How is this a hard choice?

Grant Gustin is an AMAZING Flash. And honestly deserves to replace Ezra Miller. If the show he was in had better writing and better CGI & vfx then he wouldn’t have terrible public perception. I speak for all when he deserves a chance in the DCEU. He’s our scarlet speedster!!! pic.twitter.com/68nkWyTvBL

Just recast him with Grant Gustin, he’s already the flash and plays him great so I think that’s the best option, no point in just scrapping the whole thing

Grant Gustin deserves to replace Ezra Miller as The Flash of DCEU because Grant was born to play starlet speedster in the first place pic.twitter.com/WRxn43yCGf

Imma need Grant Gustin to replace Ezra Miller as the DCEU Flash, asap. #GrantGustinForFlash

@warnerbros best idea to save the flash movie! Fire Ezra Miller (idk how he still had the job after all his run-ins with the law) and replace him with a guy that has been playing the Flash for 8 seasons on the CW Grant Gustin.

The best thing @wbpictures can do for The #Flash – is replace Ezra Miller (a horrible person & utterly crappy Flash) with Grant Gustin (a good person & a Great Flash) – as long as he’s up for doing it.

Has the decision been made yet to just digitally replace Ezra Miller with Grant Gustin in the Flash movie, and if not, what is DC/WB waiting for? pic.twitter.com/OZj8XRJeTw

Of course, we’ll have to see whether or not such a recast could happen. After all, it’s unlikely that Ezra Miller will continue playing the character after his initial film is finally released. With that in mind, it’s very possible that Grant Gustin could carry on the role. Then again we might see someone else tackle it entirely. And for now even the CW series The Flash is set to end soon. As such, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
The DC superhero film The Flash was directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay written by Christina Hodson. The story for the film was penned by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, and Joby Harold.
The cast includes Ezra Miller, Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck.
The current release date for the film is currently scheduled for June 23, 2023.
