Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become one of Marvel’s biggest components, the original comic books are still beloved by many. And, as a result, Marvel is still finding all sorts of new ways to expand upon them. This is evident in an upcoming comic book series featuring the iconic Merc with a Mouth – aka Deadpool – in which the male Marvel character actually becomes pregnant.
This upcoming series, courtesy of Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo, is arriving just in time for the character’s 30th anniversary. It will be the first solo series for the character since his most recent solo run ended in early 2021. Furthermore, Marvel revealed themselves that it will be “loaded with riotous violence and relentless body horror” in their official press release. As noted above, the body horror presumably begins as our titular character finds himself pregnant.
While a male becoming pregnant isn’t exactly unusual for Marvel, as it’s previously happened with Eddie Brock, it’ll certainly be a more chaotic experience was Wade Wilson’s Deadpool at the center.
The body horror is further teased in the following passage:
“The world knows Wade Wilson is one of the top mercenary/assassins in the Marvel Universe, even if he is simultaneously the most annoying one… but he’s pushing to make that recognition official as he auditions for the elite group known as the Atelier. Now, he has 48 hours to kill one of the world’s most famous supervillains. Only problem? He’s been kidnapped, and something… strange… is GROWING INSIDE HIM.”
It’s unknown exactly what could have happened with Deadpool to get the male Marvel character pregnant. But considering that he has no problem engaging with any kind of character or more likely alien species – it’ll be interesting to see what trouble he’s gotten himself into. In the meantime, the main story in which he must “kill one of the world’s most famous supervillains” certainly sounds exciting as well. And, after all, it’s worth celebrating a new Deadpool solo series regardless. So fans will definitely be in for a treat.
The new Deadpool comic book series from Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo will be available beginning in November. Hopefully by then we’ll know more about whatever is going on with Wade Wilson and his chaotic body horror adventures.
