Many iCarly and Jenette McCurdy fans have noticed that McCurdy seems to have left her acting career behind. While she’s hinted at some of the reasons in the past, her upcoming book titled I’m Glad My Mother Died is intended to go into much clearer detail. And, although her book has yet to be released, one very shocking detail has surfaced online. Jennette McCurdy claims that Nickelodeon actually offered her $300,000 in hush money not to talk about her experiences with the network.
Obviously, she refused the alleged deal, otherwise we probably wouldn’t be seeing this book published. But Jennette McCurdy made some very disturbing claims regarding her time at the network that fans will no doubt understand why she distanced herself from acting.
For example, she referenced one instance where someone photographed her as a child during a wardrobe fitting for a bikini. Furthermore, someone she calls the “Creator” offered her alcohol when she was still a child as well.
It’s unclear who exactly the “Creator” is, but one can assume she’s referring to none other than Dan Schneider. There have been no shortage of stories about Dan Schneider in the last few years, many of which stemmed around the time he left Nickelodeon in 2018. The allegations claimed that he was both “verbally abusive” and “hard to work with.”

There will no doubt be additional details revealed once her book, I’m Glad My Mother Died, is finally released. The memoir will discuss a plethora of events from throughout the iCarly actress’s life. For example, Jennette McCurdy will go over the death of her mother, the treatment she received as a child actor, and the aforementioned hush money. One can only hope that her story will contribute to stopping this horrible treatment of child actors.
I’m Glad My Mother Died will be available for purchase on August 9.
