It’s been revealed that actress Anne Heche is now dead at age 53. She recently suffered a severe brain injury on August 5 just one week ago. She was involved with a massive car crash in Mar Vista, Los Angeles, where her car sped into a house. Although the homeowner and their pet managed to evacuate safely, Heche had to be taken to the hospital.
While initial reports stated that Anne Heche was responsive at the time help arrived, she slipped into a coma soon after. It was in this brain dead state that her family had Anne Heche taken off life support today on Friday, August 12.
Here’s what her representatives had to say via Rolling Stone:
“Anne had a huge heart and touched everyone she met with her generous spirit,” they began. “More than her extraordinary talent, she saw spreading kindness and joy as her life’s work — especially moving the needle for acceptance of who you love. She will be remembered for her courageous honesty and dearly missed for her light.”
The actress had quite the career beginning in the 1990’s, with horror fans having recognized her for playing a part in I Know What You Did Last Summer and the role of Marion Crane in the 1998 remake of Psycho. Many of her other roles included The Adventures of Huck Finn, I’ll Do Anything, Milk Money, Wild Side, The Juror, Donnie Brasco, Volcano, Wag the Dog, Six Days Seven Nights, Return to Paradise, and The Third Miracle. Her career had continued even to recent years, with her most recent work being the upcoming Lifetime movie Girl in Room 13. As of this writing, the film is still scheduled to premiere later this year in September.
This is certainly a sad situation. Anne Heche was reportedly driving under the influence at the time of the crash. She is survived by her two children.
