It isn’t exactly surprising when Netflix decides to cancel one of their shows. After all, it’s become something of a norm at this point for the streaming giant. It’s unclear how exactly they determine which show gets cancelled and which doesn’t, but with the amount of money they spend on original content, it’s clear that they’re very careful with what it gets poured into.
As a result, a controversial Netflix series has now been one of the latest shows to be cancelled. It’s none other than the animated series Q-Force.
Interestingly, Q-Force had a somewhat decent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes at 78%. Nevertheless, it doesn’t look like the series managed to make the executives at the major streaming platform happy with the results. It’s possible that the viewership was just too low.
The series itself had a premise that seemed to appeal mostly to the LGBTQ crowd. Specifically, the main characters of the series included a team of LGBTQ secret agents. One of the actors behind one of the characters, Matt Rogers, also wrote for the series. As noted via AdWeek, he had the following to say about the show’s cancellation:
“The people that loved it really loved it, and the good news is that it will always be on Netflix. It did not get a second season, but it is out there, and it exists.”
While that’s certainly a positive way of looking at the situation, it isn’t exactly what fans of the series would like to hear. After all, no one enjoys when their favorite series is cancelled. As for Netflix, however, it seems that they had to pick which shows didn’t make it forward to the next season. And, for whatever unconfirmed reason, the controversial series Q-Force didn’t make the cut for Netflix. As noted by Matt Rogers, however, it looks like fans will still be able to enjoy the first season on the streaming platform. That’s something, at the very least.
