It’s been quite some time since the last live-action adaptation of Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride. Now a new adaptation is set to be released next year – and fans are ecstatic. Furthermore, we have our latest update regarding the cast of the Haunted Mansion film – and two major names have joined the lineup. It’s been revealed that none other than Jared Leto and Jamie Lee Curtis have joined the cast of Haunted Mansion.
As noted via EW, Jared Leto will reportedly be playing the role of the “Hatbox Ghost.” Fans will recognize this character from having appeared throughout the iconic Disney ride. As for Jamie Lee Curtis, however, she’ll be playing none other than the psychic medium Madame Leota. Fans will recognize her for having been trapped inside a crystal ball. This role was last played by Jennifer Tilly in the original live-action film.
With such big names attached to an already-massive cast, this is certainly an exciting updates for those looking forward to the film. While there are fans of the original 2003 adaptation, there are many diehard fans of the ride that were disappointed by the changes in its story. Now we should see a more faithful adaptation with this upcoming film. The upcoming Haunted Mansion film will be directed by Justin Simien from a screenplay written by Katie Dippold.
The cast for the film includes Rosario Dawson as Gabbie, Lakeith Stanfield as Ben Matthias, Owen Wilson as Kent, Tiffany Haddish as Harriet, Jared Leto as the voice of the Hatbox Ghost, Danny DeVito as a college history professor, Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota, and Chase Dillon as Gabbie’s son.
Fans can expect Haunted Mansion to be released on March 10, 2023.
