Fans are looking forward to the upcoming sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is set to introduce a variant of Kang the Conqueror and presumably other threats from the Multiverse. Now a new trailer has revealed that this variant of Kang the Conqueror has actually gone up against Earth’s mightiest heroes before – and that he’s responsible for several murders featuring The Avengers.
This obviously sets up the character as quite the threat going forward. With Kang the Conqueror being the focus of the next Avengers film, it does make sense that they’re introducing him as such. But considering how this Ant-Man sequel is being released so many years ahead of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it’s going to be interesting to see what the connection will be.
In any case, as revealed via Collider, we do know some of his past connections at this point.
Here’s how they quoted Kang’s monologue from the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Comic-Con trailer:
“When you can see time the way I do, you can see everything. Everything you’re holding onto, everything you call life – I know how it ends.”
Furthermore, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man calls himself an Avenger, which prompts the following response from Kang:
“You’re an Avenger? Have I killed you before?”
As such, it appears that this variant of Kang the Conqueror is the one behind a number of Avengers murders. This already sets him up as a powerful villain – especially if this isn’t even the ultimate variant they’ll be going up against in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. As such, we’ll just have to wait and see where the story takes us. But it’s already building up to be an exciting follow-up to the Infinity Saga.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is being directed by Peyton Reed from a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness.
The confirmed cast for the film includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, and Jonathan Majors.
Fans will be able to see the highly-anticipated MCU sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, 2023.
