Many DCEU fans have been eager to know what will happen to Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. While things are still unclear for the former, it does look like the latter will be back in quite a few projects. At the very least, Ben Affleck is not only reprising his role for the upcoming Flash film starring Ezra Miller – but he’ll be back as Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as well.
This news was revealed via actor Jason Momoa. In fact, not only did he reveal the exciting DCEU news, but the Aquaman star shared several photos of himself sitting alongside Ben Affleck.
Indeed, it’s an exciting moment for those that had no idea Ben Affleck would be showing up as Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
As he specifically stated:
“REUNITED bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben,” Momoa began. “WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha J.”

He also joked about the secret being spoiled in an Instagram video:
“It’s not a f—ing secret anymore, is it?” Momoa asked with a laugh. “That’s what happens, Warner Brothers, when you walk out of your set and there’s our fans [back stage].”
It’s difficult to know how Ben Affleck’s take on the character will be used in the film. After all, it’s expected that The Flash will tie together a number of continuities and even spawn some new ones. So until then, it’s unknown what Warner Bros’ ultimate plan for the DCEU is. But things are certainly getting interesting. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them.
James Wan, director of the first Aquaman film, returned to direct this installment from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. He co-wrote the first Aquaman film alongside Will Beall and James Wan.
The sequel will once again star actor Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, Aquaman. The cast also includes Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
Audiences can currently expect Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to be released early next year on March 17, 2023.
