It’s sadly been revealed that yet another actor from the classic film Goodfellas has passed away. This time it’s been confirmed that Paul Sorvino has died at age 83 from natural causes.
This news, via THR, included a statement from his wife Dee Dee Sorvino. She explained that their “hearts are broken,” and added that “there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage.”
Actor Paul Sorvino’s career has spanned several decades, and in that time, he managed to earn over 170 different credits in film and television. As mentioned above, one of his most iconic performances was for the film Goodfellas where he played Paulie Cicero. Of course, there are plenty of other great films and television shows that he participated in as well.
For example, he starred in the likes of The Panic at Needle Park, The Gambler, Cruising, Dick Tracy, The Rocketeer, Nixon, and Bulworth to name a few. He also acted in the television shows We’ll Get By, The Oldest Rookie, and Law & Order. Sorvino also played in a number of different horror film projects as well. B-Movie fans might recognize him for having played Col. Spears in the 1985 horror film The Stuff directed by Larry Cohen. Furthermore, he also played Reverend Penny in the TV movie Chiller which was directed by legendary horror filmmaker Wes Craven. He also worked with horror filmmaker Darren Lynn Bousman on multiple occasions.
He is currently survived by his aforementioned wife Dee Dee Sorvino and his children Mira, Michael, and Amanda as well as five grandchildren. His wife explained that Paul Sorvino had been dealing with health issues over the last several years. Now that he has passed away, the plan will be for Sorvino to be interred at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
