The latest season of Stranger Things broke all kinds of new territory for the popular Netflix series. In addition to the records that it’s broken, the fourth season introduced a variety of new protagonists and villains. One such protagonist is the character Eddie Munson, played by actor Joseph Quinn. He quickly became a fan-favorite. Unfortunately, however, Eddie Munson found himself with a devastating death in the Stranger Things 4 finale.
The moment occurred when Eddie Munson tried to buy his friends more time and distract Vecna. As a result, he was swarmed by Demobats and eventually killed. Before his death, however, he had a moment to make sure he died a hero while in Dustin’s arms.
It was a sad scene and one that has some fans in denial. After all, how could the Duffer Brothers create such a likeable character only to kill him off? Well, the Stranger Things creators have now settled the debate while speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
And, in their own words, Eddie Munson is indeed dead. Here’s what they had to say about that devastating Stranger Things 4 death:
Matt Duffer: Yes.
Ross Duffer: Sadly, yeah.
It isn’t exactly surprising for fans to speculate that he could’ve survived. After all, we’ve certainly seen characters come back from what was supposed to be their death scenes before. For example, Dr. Brenner was thought to be dead way back in the show’s first season – but he recently made a return in Stranger Things 4. It seems like the same can’t be said for Eddie Munson, however, making his death scene in the Stranger Things 4 finale a truly tragic moment. This means fans should not expect him to make a return for Stranger Things 5 – which will be the final season of the hit Netflix show.
Fans can currently view all four seasons of Stranger Things on Netflix.
