There’s a lot of anticipation for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and how the upcoming film will further expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One way of doing this, of course, will be introducing a variety of brand-new characters. One such character will be one of the villains in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Attuma, an Atlantean warlord.
As fans of the comics know, Wakanda is often at war with Atlantis. As such, it’ll be exciting to see this dynamic explored in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This means we’ll be seeing a number of characters attached to Atlantis, such as its king, Namor the Sub-Mariner. In fact, we recently got a similar look at Namor. But it’s our first look at Attuma that has fans talking.
As you can see below, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever design for Attuma looks quite similar to his appearance in the comics. This has been the goal for many of the MCU’s newer character appearances.
There are some notable differences, however, such as a helmet that consists of a hammerhead shark skull. We can also see some Mayan influences in regards to the rest of the character’s armor.

It seems like we can expect the Atlanteans to retain their blue skin color from the comics as well. This is interesting because the previous artwork of Namor the Sub-Mariner seems to indicate the actor’s natural skin color will be present. As such, the film will likely adapt the character’s original origin story in which he was a half-human-mutant and half-Atlantean hybrid. Hopefully we’ll have additional official looks at these characters soon. With the film due in theaters later this year, we’ll probably see more glimpses sooner rather than later.
Ryan Coogler directed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
The cast we can currently expect for the new MCU film includes Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Michaela Coel, and Tenoch Huerta.
Fans will be able to see the highly-anticipated Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, later this year on November 11, 2022.
