Although many fans know Chris Evans for having played Captain America throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he also played the Human Torch in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie and its original sequel. While these fans would love to see Chris Evans reprise either of these characters, with the actor suggesting he’s more likely for a Human Torch reprisal, the Russo Brothers have another Marvel character in mind. Specifically, they Russo Brothers believe Chris Evans could easily pull off playing Wolverine.
They recently said as much in a recent interview via ComicBook. The two co-directors explained that based on his personality and physical appearance, Chris Evans would be a perfect fit for Wolverine. It’s certainly an unexpected statement – but one that most fans might be able to get behind. Especially with the introduction of the Multiverse.
Interestingly, they believe that Chris Evans is quite different from the character of Steve Rogers and Captain America. As such, they seem to believe that he could easily play another character. Here’s what they had to say on the matter:
“Evans has incredible range and great physicality, and he’s real good at body control. He’s an incredible actor. I don’t mean this in a bad way, but he’s nothing like Captain America. Steve Rogers is very controlled and quiet, understated.”
They further explained why Wolverine would be a great fit for Chris Evans. And, after hearing their thoughts, it’s hard to disagree.
Chris is energetic and funny and charismatic, and he brings a lot of energy to set. I’d love to see him do something like Wolverine.”
It’s certainly exciting to see two directors that have been so closely tied to the MCU give their thoughts on Wolverine. After all, many fans have been debating which actor would be the best for the role. While Hugh Jackman made a massive impression as the character over the years, it’s been expected that a new actor will take the mantle for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And although it likely won’t be Chris Evans, it’ll be exciting to see who does step up to the part. As such, fans can continue to stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them.
