Fans were delighted to hear that Marvel Studios was finally moving ahead with their Thunderbolts movie. For those that are unaware, the Thunderbolts are quite often compared to DC’s Suicide Squad. They comprise a superhero team of supervillains in much of the same way. Of course, Marvel has their own unique catalogue of villains to choose from, and that should make this new MCU installment all the more exciting. Especially because it’s just been announced that Olga Kurylenko will return as Taskmaster for the new Thunderbolts adaptation.
Olga Kurylenko first portrayed Taskmaster in the 2021 film Black Widow. This should certainly be an interesting setup then for the new Thunderbolts movie and the other villains we could expect to see. Because this upcoming film will have the same screenwriter as Black Widow, however, it’s possible that we may see even more connections develop.
As noted in the tweet below:

Other villains that could appear in the film but currently remain unconfirmed include Baron Zemo, Yelena Belova, Ghost, The Abomination, US Agent, and the Winter Soldier. It’s also possible that General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross could play a part in the film as well. But, as stated, these characters have yet to be confirmed. Now that we know Taskmaster should be appearing in Thunderbolts, however, this opens up all kinds of possibilities for the new MCU film.
The new Thunderbolts film will be directed by Jake Schreier. Eric Pearson, who also wrote the screenplay for Black Widow, is penning the script. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will produce the film.
A release date for the project has yet to be announced. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates as we have them. It’s likely that we’ll continue to have cast announcements in the near future. Especially with the report that Olga Kurylenko will once again be playing Taskmaster.
