Fans have been anxious to finally see the third Deadpool film move into production, especially now that Disney has acquired Fox. This means that the new film will take place within the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, as fans know, that means endless potential for jokes and fourth-wall breaking. Other than that, however, the plot details for the film have been mostly unknown – until now. One of the writers, Rhett Reese, has finally given fans the first plot details they can expect to see in Deadpool 3.
As revealed in an interview with the BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had quite the discussion. Rhett Reese explained that the new film will actually be a “fish-out-of-water” type of film.
When you consider that this will be Deadpool’s first introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that makes perfect sense.
Here’s what Reese explained:
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun.”
Furthermore, co-writer Paul Wernick gave an exciting answer that should have Morbius fans, or rather fans of the memes, really hyped. It turns out that the two writers hadn’t yet seen the film, or even the memes, and now that they’re aware – they intend to write some kind of Morbius joke into Deadpool 3.
“We haven’t seen ‘Morbius’. We haven’t even seen the memes. But now it’s on our radar.”
Now that Morbius has become known as a cinematic meme, especially for a line of dialogue that doesn’t actually exist, it’d be great to see what Deadpool can do with the material. Especially if he says that aforementioned imaginary line – “It’s Morbin’ Time!” which would no doubt drive fans into laughter.
With that said, it’s nice to see some Deadpool 3 plot details finally surface. Hopefully this means more details regarding the upcoming project will soon be on their way. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates as we have them.
