Fans of The Last of Us have been patiently waiting to see the video game franchise adapted for live-action. Now, soon enough, fans will be able to see a live-action The Last of Us television series which is currently being produced for HBO. Fans will recognize Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian fame as Joel, while Bella Ramsey will be playing the co-lead Ellie. The two Last of Us characters have just been featured in a first look image from Summer Game Fest.
The image, courtesy of THR, was initially shared by series co-creator and executive producer Neil Druckmann. If that wasn’t enough, Druckmann, who is “also the best-selling video game’s writer and creative director,” confirmed that the video game’s voice actors will also be part of the series. That’s right, fans will be getting to see voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson in the new series – albeit as entirely different characters.

Hopefully we’ll have more looks at the highly-anticipated series soon. The Last of Us has become an incredibly popular modern video game franchise and there’s already a remake in the works for modern systems. Between that and this new TV series, there’s a lot for fans to look forward to.
The series is being developed by Craig Mazin who is working alongside Neil Druckmann to write and executive produce. Kantemir Balagov is directing the pilot episode with Jasmila Žbanić and Ali Abbasi directing additional episodes.
In addition to Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Troy Baker, and Ashley Johnson, the cast also includes Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce and Anna Torv.
