Disney’s various Disneyland and Disney World theme parks are often considered some of the happiest locations on Earth. Whether you agree with that or not, this recent viral video certainly shows an awful example of something no one wants to happen there. It turns out one guest thought Disneyland Paris would be a great place to propose. But one Disneyland employee ruined the whole event.
As you can see in the below video, the aforementioned guest apparently got permission to propose on a platform with Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background. This seems to be the perfect fairy tale-esque setup for a proposal. But then, right as the guest gets on his knee and removes the ring, the entire event is ruined.
A Disneyland Paris employee with mouse ear inserts shows up to stop the proposal. He asks the couple to leave but not before grabbing the ring box and standing between them. Yikes. You can see it happen here:

The video was further shared on Reddit, where the following title was added:
“POS destroyed my best friends moment. He asked for permission beforehand.”
If that wasn’t enough, Newsweek also reached out to Disney about the event. They were able to confirm that the video indeed took place at Disneyland Paris. Disney offered the following statement and shared that they hope to make things right with the couple:
“We regret how this was handled. We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”
Of course, while many viewers of the video believe that the employee was in the wrong, some argue differently. They suggest that the guest should’ve never been on the platform to begin with, even if he did get permission first. Others think the employee that interrupted them should be fired – while some believe it’s the one who gave permission that will receive all the blame. Obviously there are many different opinions involved. But one thing is for certain – it’s an awful event to have happen when you’re in the midst of a proposal.
