The verdict was decided by the jury on the third day of deliberations. As those who’ve been following the trial know, the jury had to decide whether or not Johnny Depp’s claim that Amber Heard defamed him was genuine. Similarly, Amber Heard countersued that Johnny Depp defamed her, and thus it made for quite an interesting case. Especially because Johnny Depp sued for $50 million whereas Amber Heard countersued for $100 million.
This verdict was given while Amber Heard physically waited in court. As for Johnny Depp, the actor was already in the United Kingdom at the time of the reading. As revealed via TMZ:
“Due to previously scheduled work commitments made before the trial, Mr. Depp will not be physically present for today’s 3 PM verdict and will be watching from the United Kingdom.”
Furthermore, a representative of Amber Heard gave their own statement in response:
“Your presence shows where your priorities are. Johnny Depp plays guitar in the UK while Amber Heard waits for a verdict in Virginia. Depp is taking his snickering and lack of seriousness on tour.”
Ahead of the verdict, Johnny Depp had already been touring for three days for a number of concerts in the United Kingdom. He was joined by his friend Jeff Beck. It’s expected that he’ll be continuing to do so before arriving back at the United States.
