One of the most exciting aspects for the newly-released MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is that the movie features The Illuminati. This is a group with some of Marvel’s most brilliant superheroes that fans will recognize from the comic books. Of course, the new Doctor Strange sequel introduced the group in a rather surprising and interesting way. Now Marvel has released official footage featuring The Illuminati in a new promotional video for Doctor Strange 2.
As you can see below, they included the following caption to accompany the scene:
“Don’t miss your chance to see Marvel Studios’ #DoctorStrange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the tweet begins. “See it again and again now playing only in theaters.”

Although there are quite a few superheroes that comprise The Illuminati in the film, only a handful are revealed in this new clip. The few shown by Marvel include Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), and Black Bolt (Anson Mount). Fans will recognize Black Bolt from the television series The Inhumans, whereas this is a variant Anson Mount’s character from that series. The other superheroes that comprise The Illuminati which aren’t included in this footage are Charles Xavier (Sir Patrick Stewart), Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and Reed Richards (John Krasinski).
It’s unknown if the Marvel Cinematic Universe will continue to show new versions of The Illuminati or its superheroes. Specifically, fans are unsure how Charles Xavier or Reed Richards will be reintroduced within the main continuity. But now that the seeds have been planted for such appearances, anything is truly possible. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates as we have them. In the meantime, we at least have Doctor Strange 2 after several years of waiting.
Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently playing in theaters.
