Although they’re taking a break from releasing theatrical films, the Star Wars franchise is booming on the small screen. Disney and Lucasfilm have been actively working on a wide variety of new Disney Plus shows set within different eras of the Star Wars universe. While we’re about to see the release of the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Disney Plus is now getting fans hyped for the next live-action Star Wars show to hit. This next upcoming series is none other than Andor, which stars Diego Luna from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Now a trailer for Andor has been released.
It’s certainly an exciting trailer, with footage that reveals a return to planets both familiar and new for Star Wars fans. With a setting that takes place before the events of Rogue One and after Revenge of the Sith, it’s also going to be exciting to see Andor’s past and what the Empire was up to at this time. For example, the trailer reveals our first ever glimpse at the Imperial Senate – something only referenced via dialogue in the original films.

As for the setup of the new Star Wars series…
“The “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”
Showrunner Tony Gilroy created the series. Kathleen Kennedy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna, and Michelle Rejwan are the executive producers.
While Diego Luna returns to portray the titular character Cassian Andor, the cast also includes Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller.
The upcoming series Andor will be available for Star Wars fans to stream via Disney Plus on August 31.
