With so many Marvel Cinematic Universe projects getting underway on both the big screen and on television, the MCU is able to experiment more than ever before. This has led to some varying styles within the expanding universe, and the upcoming series She-Hulk looks like it will only continue to explore uncharted Marvel territory. In fact, as a means to do this, the series will be introducing some rather surprising characters. While the new trailer showed that comic book character Frog Man would be making an appearance, it turns out another much weirder Marvel villain will also be appearing in She-Hulk.
As revealed via Lizzie Hill at The Cosmic Circus, “a porcupine man” will be appearing in the series. By that name alone, most fans will likely be surprised that such a character would be getting introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But there are actually comic book appearances for such a character as well.
As explained in their report:
“This character wasn’t seen in the trailer, but likely is a version of either Marvel character Alexander Gentry or Roger Gocking who both went by Porcupine and wore the Porcupine armor.”
While it’s possible that Marvel could use the “porcupine man” as a different type of character entirely, it does make sense that they’d use either the aforementioned Alexander Gentry or Roger Gocking. These versions of the character have previously gone up against the likes of Hank Pym and the Fantastic Four in previous Marvel comic books. As such, it’d make sense to introduce the villain here in She-Hulk for the possibility to return in future Marvel projects. Of course, it could also be that the “porcupine man” will be used as a quick little throwback to some of the weirder villains used in Marvel comics from the past.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the She-Hulk series as we have them. This includes the possibilities for this porcupine character and how they might be used in the show.
The new MCU series She-Hulk will be premiering on Disney Plus on August 17, 2022.
