We’ve recently gotten some new details on the upcoming Disney Plus series She-Hulk, thanks to some leaks from an official Disney blog. And while this confirms that the highly-anticipated series will be hitting the streaming service this summer, there are some additional disappointing reports as well. It appears that the series is being called a “mess” by some sources.
This was stated by Puck co-founder Matthew Belloni via MovieWeb. While the television output isn’t exactly “in trouble,” it does seem like Marvel has some issues on their plate they’re worried about.
As he wrote:
“The upcoming She-Hulk is supposedly a mess, I’ve heard (even with Mark Ruffalo in a small role), and Ms. Marvel is another big test for fans. Nobody’s saying Marvel’s TV output is in trouble, but it’s something to keep an eye on.”
Furthermore, Matthew Belloni used other Disney Plus shows like Moon Knight to illustrate the problems that Marvel is facing.
“So Moon Knight generated about half the initial viewership as Hawkeye, and many fans seem to dislike it intensely,” he explained. “I recently discussed the question of whether Marvel has a creative problem on my podcast, The Town, but even from a purely business perspective, Marvel needs to figure out how to generate Avenger-level interest from non-Avenger properties.”
We’ve already seen prior reports that also claimed She-Hulk was something of a “mess.” Of course, that doesn’t mean fans will view the series that way. In fact, the zanier tone of the series could be rather well-received much like the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise. Although, considering the performance of some MCU shows on Disney Plus, it’ll be interesting to see just how She-Hulk is received on the platform. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates on the series as we have them.
The MCU series She-Hulk is currently expected to premiere on Disney Plus on August 17, 2022.
