Fans have been trying to have Amber Heard removed following the legal debacle between her and ex-husband Johnny Depp. The two have been making allegations at one another over claims of domestic abuse. While Johnny Depp seems to have lost a number of roles due to the controversy, Amber Heard on the other hand has not. As such, petitions have been launched to try and have Warner Bros. remove Amber Heard from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. While it seems like the petition has not yet succeeded, Amber Heard did say that WB wanted to cut her from the Aquaman sequel entirely.
This was noted by Amber Heard during her testimony as reported by CBS News. She apparently “fought really hard” to stay in the film and ultimately the role has been “pared down” as a result. This seems to coincide with previous reports that Amber Heard has less than ten minutes of screen time in the sequel.
As you can see in the below dialogue:
Lawyer: Have you participated in Aquaman 2?
Heard: I have.
Lawyer: And tell us about that.
Heard: I had to fight to–I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film.
Lawyer: Were you ultimately able to film in Aquaman 2?
Heard: A very pared down version of that role, yes.
Lawyer: What if anything changed in the script?
Heard: I was given a script. And then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another. They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.
Things are definitely complicated at the moment, and it’s unknown what the ultimate result or impact of this trial will be. With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom delayed until next year, there’s no telling what changes might be made to the film until then. As such, it’s still possible that Amber Heard might be further removed from the project. We’ll just have to see what happens. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates as we have them.
Audiences can currently expect Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to be released early next year on March 17, 2023.
