While Disney Plus has become a popular source for most Marvel projects, Hulu has been another distributor used by the company for such properties. This included the Marvel series MODOK which focused on the titular Marvel villain. Unfortunately, it appears that Hulu has now cancelled MODOK after only one season.
Of course, some fans might not be surprised by this. After all, Marvel Studios has been taking over the production of Marvel’s television projects. Still, though, there’s no doubt some disappointment from fans that were expecting MODOK to continue. Especially since the series only lasted ten episodes when it debuted last year in May 2021.
Star Patton Oswalt wrote the following on Twitter after the cancellation was announced:
“*sigh* oh well Got to work with the best writers, a dream voice cast, and @Marvel let us run amok in their toy box. Another great experience. Forward!”

It’s worth noting that MODOK was originally part of an entire series of four original shows. They all would have premiered on Hulu, including MODOK, Hit-Monkey, Howard the Duck, and Tigra and Dazzler. However, MODOK and Hit-Monkey were the only shows to get off the ground. Now they’ve been cancelled and future plans for MODOK and its fellow shows have been dismissed. They were originally planned to lead into a crossover event titled The Offenders. It would have been something of a parody of The Defenders, which as fans know, makes a lot of sense for MODOK. After all, MODOK was something of a satire of the entire Marvel brand.
Marvel’s MODOK was created and written by executive producers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt. Brett Cawley, Robert Maitia, Grant Gish, Joe Quesada, Karim Zreik, and Jeph Loeb also served as executive producers.
The cast for the series included Patton Oswalt as the titular character. He was joined by Melissa Fumero, Aimee Garcia, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ben Schwartz, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly, and Sam Richardson.
