For years studios have been trying to get a reboot of The Crow off the ground. While many fans never expected such a project to actually happen, a recent announcement proved otherwise. It was revealed that actor Bill Skarsgård, known for his appearances in films like IT: Chapter One and its sequel, was cast as Eric Draven. Now we know that The Crow is scheduled to film this summer.
This information comes via Deadline. Obviously, this is the furthest any of these reboot attempts have ever gotten. So it definitely seems like we’re getting a reboot of The Crow quite soon.
As they’ve revealed:
“The anticipated reboot of cult classic The Crow is heading to the Cannes market with FilmNation Entertainment where it will be among the hot packages.”
Furthermore, they added when The Crow is expected to film:
“Filming is due to get underway this summer in Czech Republic (Prague) and Germany (various locations).”
Rupert Sanders is going to direct the film from a screenplay written by Zach Baylin. The project is being produced by Molly Hassell, Victor Hadida, John Jencks, and Edward R. Pressman. Dan Farah is attached as an executive producer.
As of this writing, the only cast member we know of is Bill Skarsgård who will play the film’s lead. His character was originally played by the late Brandon Lee who was part of the 1994 film adaptation of The Crow. Previous actors considered for the role include Jason Momoa and Tom Hiddleston. With that said, Bill Skarsgård certainly seems like an appropriate pick. Hopefully we’ll have more casting news soon, especially if production will be starting this summer. It’ll be interesting to see a Crow reboot finally get off the ground.
