The newly-released Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced plenty of new and familiar characters. While it’s unknown how many of these characters will eventually return to the MCU, it’s clear that Charlize Theron will be back sooner or later. She made a surprise appearance during a post-credits scene for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and now as you can see below, she was finally able to announce her MCU debut proper.
The photo that Charlize Theron shared isn’t particularly revealing. You can’t expect to find any new film or television announcements, and the caption doesn’t hint where she’ll be spotted next. What it does indicate, however, is that Charlize Theron’s portrayal of Marvel character Clea is very comic-accurate. The character is often illustrated with purple eye makeup and long white hair. Now Charlize Theron sports all of this for her transformation into Clea.

Although the caption is short, Marvel fans know how massive of an announcement this is. Clea is an important character in the original Marvel comic books. While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness only showed her for the post-credits scene, her presence will no doubt be felt throughout upcoming film installments. In the comics she fights alongside Doctor Strange, becomes a love interest, and at one point she even becomes the Sorcerer Supreme. While it’s unknown how closely the Marvel Cinematic Universe will use these events for inspiration, it’s clear that we should be expecting Clea to play a large part in the future.
