After years of waiting, the upcoming sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has been in production for a highly-anticipated 2023 release date. Director James Gunn has teased plenty of details throughout the film’s production, including that it’s the last installment with the Guardians team as we know it. While it’s unclear what exactly this means for the franchise going forward, actor Dave Bautista might’ve just revealed that it might have something to do with his character Drax. In particular, Dave Bautista made a social media post teasing the end for Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
As you can see below, via Instagram, Dave Bautista discussed his time on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. He wrote about the film in a very sentimental way, all before saying “#GoodbyeDrax” in a series of hashtags.
Here’s his complete post:
“Haven’t found the words yet. It ended so suddenly and I was on to my next film before I could process it all. End of a journey that changed my life. #guardiansofthegalaxy #vol3 #GoodbyeDrax #DreamChaser #DreamMachine”

Dave Bautista similarly suggested in the past that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 could be the end for his character Drax. Of course, production on the film at that time was nowhere near as far ahead, so it seemed unclear what could really happen. But now that production has wrapped – it certainly looks like Drax might be moving on after this installment of the franchise. Without knowing any story details, however, it remains to be seen what exactly will happen to the character. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for further updates as we have them.
The cast for the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 features Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and the voice talents of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Will Poulter is joining the cast as Adam Warlock.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be released on May 5, 2023.
