After several weeks of waiting, actress Amber Heard finally gave her first testimony in the lawsuit filed against her by ex-husband Johnny Depp. Amber Heard took the stand in an effort to describe the first time she was allegedly abused by Johnny Depp.
Her story began with a tale of her and Johnny Depp having a “normal conversation,” while Depp was apparently drinking, smoking, and suspected by Amber Heard to have been using cocaine. She said she’d asked about a tattoo on his arm, which he said meant “wino,” and then he allegedly slapped her after she laughed at his answer.
As you can see in the video below:
. #AmberHeard says after #JohnnyDepp slapped her, she didn’t want to leave him, didn’t want that to be the reality. She says it broke her heart thinking she needed to leave the “best thing that ever happened to me.” But she didn’t leave. @LawCrimeNetwork pic.twitter.com/gvsFSYYYaN

As noted via USA Today:
“I thought he was joking because it didn’t look like it at all,” Heard said. “I laughed because I thought he was joking and he slapped me across the face. And I laughed. I laughed because I didn’t know what else to do. I thought, ‘this must be a joke.’ I didn’t know what was going on. I just stared at him kind of laughing still, thinking he was going to start laughing too to tell me it was a joke. But he didn’t.”
She was initially stunned from the experience, which did not hurt but had her in shock.
“God, did he just hit me?” Heard recalled thinking. “I didn’t want to leave him … I know you don’t come back from that. I know you can’t hit a woman, you can’t hit a man. You can’t hit anybody. I knew it was wrong and that I had to leave him and that’s what broke my heart because I didn’t want to leave him.”
Johnny Depp soon became apologetic, and Amber Heard forgave him, hoping that he’d never do it again. But according to her testimony, this wasn’t the case. As was described:
“As Heard continued her testimony, she alleged a pattern of Depp abusing alcohol and cocaine, displaying erratic behavior including holding his dog out the window of a moving car and accusing Heard of an affair she says she didn’t have, and physically abusing her. Depp focused his eyes downward for a majority of the testimony.”
Her allegations against Johnny Depp continued as she explained the beginning of their relationship’s downfall:
“As their relationship progressed, Heard said, Depp took issues with clothing she wore and expressed concern she was cheating on him with friends. And arguments began to turn ugly, Heard alleged, with Depp tossing around expletives, smashing glass or turning over a table before leaving and coming back as the ‘wonderful, almost unreal… unbelievably nice, sensitive, warm generous funny man that I loved,’ she said.”
“It was always intense. it didn’t become intense, it started that way,” Heard explained.
Before Amber Heard gave her testimony, psychologist Dawn Hughes testified and said Amber Heard suffered from PTSD. She insisted that this was due to the violence she allegedly suffered from Johnny Depp, which not only including physical abuse, but sexual abuse as well. Interestingly, a psychologist hired by Johnny Depp’s legal team said otherwise just prior. This psychologist insisted that Amber Heard faked her PTSD and actually has both borderline and histrionic personality disorders.
It’s certainly going to remain an interesting trial as it continues onward.
