It took many years for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 to finally come together, but the film has since been in production. Fans will be able to see the upcoming sequel about this time next year, and while we wait for that release date, new behind-the-scenes photos have been revealed. Excitingly, they actually show that Chris Pratt will have a new costume for his portrayal of Star-Lord.
As you can see below, via Just Jared, Chris Pratt will have a totally new outfit for his Star-Lord character. Fans were already aware that Chris Pratt grew out his facial hair for the character, but seeing this new costume is certainly a surprise.

Aside from Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, fans also get glimpses at some aliens that we’ll be seeing in the film. It appears that we can expect plenty of practical effects to bring these characters to life in addition to Marvel’s common use of CGI. Furthermore, the images reveal Karen Gillan’s character Nebula who appears to be wearing the same costume as Chris Pratt. Thus, it stands to reason that this just might be the new costume for our beloved Guardians of the Galaxy.
In fact, the costume appears to be directly inspired by the designs shown in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1: Legacy by Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett. Hopefully we’ll have more details from the upcoming film soon, including why the characters happen to have new outfits.
The cast for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 features Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, along with the voice talents of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Will Poulter is joining the cast as Adam Warlock.
The upcoming MCU film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is scheduled for a May 5, 2023 release date.
