With the ongoing CinemaCon 2022 event, many exciting announcements have been made. Now Warner Bros has given fans the first look at Barbie, their upcoming film inspired by the iconic toy line, which also stars Margot Robbie in the title role. Fans will recognize Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in the DCEU, so seeing her take on Barbie next is certainly an exciting twist.
As you can see below, Warner Bros shared their first look at Margot Robbie as Barbie on Twitter. They also included a release date for the film – which means fans will be able to see it next summer. Nevertheless, from this point forward, it’s probably safe to say that the marketing campaign will slowly begin hyping up.

Interestingly, Margot Robbie isn’t the only big name attached to this project. The film also stars Ryan Gosling, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Hari Nef, and Will Ferrell. With a cast like that, it’ll be interesting to see how they come together to bring the Barbie property to life for theaters.
The film was directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film’s script with her partner Noah Baumbach. Meanwhile, Margot Robbie will also produce the film via LuckyChap along with Tom Ackerley. Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and David Heyman for Heyday Films will also produce. LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz are attached to the project as executive producers.
Mattel is currently in the midst of adapting many of their beloved toy properties for the big screen. Barbie is just one of many upcoming films that will be bringing to life one of the most iconic toys in the world. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates as we have them.
