The legal debacle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been going on for a few years now. The latest trial on the matter is set to begin later this month on April 11. Now, ahead of that date, Amber Heard has chosen to release a public statement on social media. In her statement, Amber Heard indicates how much of a painful endeavor this has been for her. She also hopes that after this trial, both she and Johnny Depp can move forward with their lives.
Amber Heard release this statement via Instagram, and as you can see below, noted she’ll also be taking a break from social media for the next few weeks. As such, this is likely the last we’ll hear an update from her specifically on the matter until it’s settled.
Here’s how the statement began:
“I’m going to go offline for the next several weeks. As you may know, I’ll be in Virginia, where I face my ex-husband Johnny Depp in court. Johnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in the Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse. I never named him, rather I wrote about the price women pay for speaking out against men in power.”
She continued by saying:
“I continue to pay that price, but hopefully when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny. I have always maintained a love for Johnny and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world. At this time, I recognize the ongoing support I’ve been fortunate to receive during these years, and in these coming weeks I will be leaning on it more than ever.”
While previous lawsuits have ended in favor of Amber Heard, many are expecting that Johnny Depp could win this one. The actor has similarly stated that Amber Heard was abusive towards him, and evidence to support these allegations have since been posted online. As such, it’s unclear which individual will win this upcoming trial. But it will certainly be a massive gamechanger for everyone involved.
