Actor Will Smith became the center of attention after he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Chris Rock made several jokes about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and in particular her shaved head. As a result, Will Smith walked on stage, slapped Chris Rock, and after sitting back down – he yelled several expletives. This all occurred on live television, which had viewers and audience members shocked. Now it appears Will Smith is afraid of being “fully canceled” as a result of his actions.
This information was shared by an insider via US Weekly, and follows after several Will Smith projects were pulled. It appears that Will Smith feels terrible about what’s happened and that he’s “trying not to panic.”
As stated:
“He feels terrible and is trying not to panic, but seeing his roles put on ice has been a hugely bitter pill to swallow,” the insider began.
They then continued to explain how Will Smith is afraid of being “fully canceled” and how he can’t do anything about it:
“His biggest fear is that he’s in the process of being fully canceled, and there’s nothing he can really do about it except sit back, suck up his punishment like a man and try to atone however he can.”
Indeed, not only have several Will Smith projects been put on the backburner, but Will Smith himself has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Academy was in the midst of considering proper punishments for the actor before he decided to simply resign. Of course, it’s possible that he’ll still face some form of repercussions for his actions. In the meantime, he has made a public apology to Chris Rock. While Chris Rock seems to be on good terms with Will Smith, he has yet to have made any formal responses on the matter.
