With each installment of Disney’s sequel trilogy in the Star Wars film franchise, the films received more and more backlash. This extended to the stars of the films, and some of them reacted by removing themselves from social media entirely. One such star was Daisy Ridley, who played the character Rey in the sequel trilogy. She decided to abandon social media altogether in the year 2019, and while it was unclear how long this leave would last, it appears that Daisy Ridley is back.
She revealed a recent post on Instagram, fittingly drinking a cup of tea albeit with LED light-therapy glasses. It seems to be the perfect pose to strike a sudden return to social media, and because she’s drinking tea, her caption appropriately alludes to such as well.
Here’s the caption:
“Coming out of social media hibernation refreshed, recharged, and ready for what I’m calling my ‘Year of Yes.'(And that’s the tea.)”

While many of her fans acknowledged her return to social media, it’s perhaps most noticeable that the official Star Wars account did as well. Further appropriate, they took the opportunity to make a joke regarding Ridley’s glasses and her status as Rey in the Star Wars film franchise:
“Those would make piloting a speeder most difficult.”
Now that Daisy Ridley has returned to social media, however, fans are still wondering if she’ll return to the Star Wars franchise. After all, things have changed since the original trilogy and prequel trilogy were each concluded. It’s unlikely that Disney would like to keep the sequel trilogy similarly closed off for a decade or two. As such, we may see more of Rey’s adventures at some point in the future, and receive additional closer that the films were unable to provide. Perhaps this could help fans better appreciate the sequel trilogy in the same way that shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars have improved the prequel era.
