When the various Netflix shows made in cooperation with Marvel were canceled, the future for these characters became very unclear. Some of the shows, including Daredevil, were quite popular with fans and have remained so to this day. In fact, two Daredevil characters were recently reintroduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the titular character played by Charlie Cox showing up for a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His nemesis Kingpin, on the other hand, returned for the Disney Plus series Hawkeye where he was once again played by Vincent D’Onofrio. Now another Netflix series character could join the MCU under Disney, and it’s none other than Iron Fist, as played by actor Finn Jones – but with a twist.
Of course, the Netflix series Iron Fist wasn’t quite as popular as the likes of Daredevil. In fact, it was received negatively by quite a few fans. So why would Disney want to bring back Finn Jones as Iron Fist for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, let’s just say that they’re definitely putting some interesting options on the table.
According to our sources, Marvel does want Finn Jones to return as Iron Fist, but his return wouldn’t be for long. In fact, they’re considering only bringing him back as a sort of joke – and replacing him with Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing.
It’s unclear how exactly they’d hope to achieve this, but with the Multiverse, they certainly have their options laid out for them. So if all goes as planned, Marvel fans will see Finn Jones as Iron Fist. It’ll just be a very short-lived appearance – similar to Ben Kingsley’s “Mandarin” return in Shang-Chi.
It’s still unclear what Disney and Marvel have planned overall for all of these Netflix characters, but with the shows having been moved to Disney Plus, they certainly do have some kind of strategy in place. With cameos for Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin having already been spotted in the MCU, we’ll probably see other characters like Iron Fist sooner or later.
As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates as we have them. In the meantime, Iron Fist and Netflix’s other Marvel shows can now be viewed on Disney Plus.
