Fans have been waiting years for Sony’s Morbius to finally hit theaters. The new film will focus on the Spider-Man villain of the same name, and it apparently takes place in the same universe as the Venom film franchise. With so many questions regarding these superhero continuities, fans are especially anxious to know what’s going on. While there still aren’t any crystal clear answers, there are some clues given at the end of Morbius. In fact, the two post-credits scenes for Morbius have already leaked online.
As of this writing, via French YouTuber Landri (transcribed by Reddit), only descriptions are available. However, it’s been suggested that some footage has already made its way online elsewhere. In any case, we now know more about Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes and his Vulture alter-ego. Or at least, we know they plan to tell us more about him at a later point. Indeed, the two post-credits scenes are essentially set-ups for future movies in which Vulture and Morbius are working together.
The first post-credits scene features Adrian telling Morbius about how he ended up in prison because of Spider-Man. This now indicates that Spider-Man will likely be appearing at some point in the future. Of course, it’s unclear just which rendition of the character will make the cut. As for the second post-credits scene, it teases another set-up entirely.
The second post-credits scene once again focuses on Adrian Toomes and Morbius. At this point, however, Adrian urges Morbius to help him break out of prison. He also wants to start a group, which may or may not become the notorious Sinister Six team that Sony has been trying to put on the big screen for ages. The director also teased that it seems to be leading into a Sinister Six film with his following response during a Twitter Q&A:
“Q: Is Vulture in Morbius setting up for a Sinister Six Movie?
A: Well, he is recruiting teammates and he has enticed one already. So it sure looks like a start.”
It isn’t surprising for a superhero movie to use post-credits scenes to lead into future installments. As for Morbius, however, it seems to be carrying the questions that fans continue to have regarding these various continuities. Hopefully we’ll have more direct answers soon.
