Marvel Studios is making moves left and right for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As they embark on the uphill task of eclipsing the Infinity Saga and all of its epic storytelling. One of the steps taken is to incorporate the Disney Plus streaming service to expand the MCU, with several shows down the pipeline. Many of these shows will introduce new characters to the fold, like Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. Speaking of the latter, Marvel is taking a chance on a newcomer for that role, with Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, and we now have our first trailer for the show.
This series looks to bring a very diverse feel to the MCU. As one of the newer characters in Marvel Comics, Kamala Khan represents Pakistani youth and gives them a hero they can not only look up to, but can relate to as well. And, it doesn’t stop there, as the series is also directed by four up and coming Middle Eastern directors, men and women alike. It also showcases Marvel’s intention of blending these streaming series with the ‘greater’ MCU.
Check out the trailer below:
Ms. Marvel will be established in her own show before joining Captain Marvel in her sequel film, The Marvels. And that will probably just be the first of many appearances throughout the rest of the MCU projects. Marvel is more interwoven than ever, and are changing the game once again, just as they did with The Infinity Saga.
One of the best things that looks to come out of this show is the dream we all had as kids of getting superpowers and being a hero. Now, we can all live vicariously through Kamala as she does just that. Look for Ms. Marvel to hit Disney Plus on June 8th, joining an already packed year for the MCU.
