When it comes to the marketing of the WWE’s biggest events, there tends to be a lot of hyperbole. Buzz words and catchphrases are used to help catch people’s attention and garner buys of the Premium Live Event. No event in WWE gets more marketing and pomp and circumstance than WrestleMania, the Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment. And this year’s event, the 38th WrestleMania, is no different. It has been labeled as ‘the most stupendous WrestleMania ever’. However, this year might just live up to the hype that the marketing is touting out. And its all thanks to a certain return…
The two day event already has some pretty big matches. Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar in a Title Unification Match. Becky Lynch versus Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title. Ronda Rousey is back, and facing Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Title. Color Commentator and all around electric human being, Pat McAfee, gets back in the ring to face Austin Theory. Sami Zayn looks to beat the crap out of Jackass Legend, Johnny Knoxville. This is already some big matches, and its only about half of what is to come. But, with Wrestlemania being in Dallas, Texas this year, Kevin Owens has decided to attack the state of Texas at every single chance he could.
This vitriol towards the Lone Star State and its people has caught the attention of a certain Hall of Famer. Arguably the biggest name in pro wrestling ever, Stone Cold Steve Austin. And Austin has responded on Twitter:
OH HELL YEAH!@SteveAustinBSR has accepted @FightOwensFight‘s #WrestleMania 38 invitation! pic.twitter.com/7x5t41nDBg

19 years ago at WrestleMania 19, Stone Cold had his final match against another all time great, The Rock. He lost that match and in turn retired after an amazing, albeit it short, career. And in the nearly 20 years since his retirement, Austin has been pretty adamant about sticking to his retirement decision, something that is actually rare in the world of pro wrestling. However, Kevin Owens has struck a cord. A cord that his reignited Austin’s passion for the squared circle and for opening up a can of whoop ass. Now, at what might actually be the most stupendous WrestleMania of all time, Stone Cold Steve Austin is returning to fight Kevin Owens!
If you were on the fence about watching this year’s WrestleMania, whether you’re jaded over WWE or what not, this should absolutely push you over to watch the two day event in April. The return of the icon that is Stone Cold Steve Austin is a wrestling fan’s wet dream. Just wait until we all hear that glass shatter – and you can expect the biggest pop in the history of the business.
