It isn’t surprising to see Marvel character appear in other MCU projects before getting to star in their own solo-films. However, it was previously expected that the next time fans got to see Mahershala Ali as Blade, following his voice cameo in Eternals, that it would be in his upcoming solo-film. This no longer seems to be the case. As it turns out, it’s being rumored that Mahershala Ali will be making an appearance as Blade for the upcoming Disney Plus special Werewolf by Night.
This report comes from The Cosmic Circus, and considering it’s not yet confirmed, it should be taken with a grain of salt. But considering how often Marvel likes to connect their various characters, it certainly would make sense to for Blade to make an appearance physically in their Werewolf by Night special.
As they’ve stated:
“Blade, the effortlessly cool world-famous elite vampire hunter, is expected to return to our screens in the Werewolf By Night Halloween special.”
Again, while this should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s worth noting that they had several sources confirm this rumor. As such, it certainly seems like an exciting possibility that Marvel fans can look forward to. And it certainly does make sense, considering it’s a Halloween special with one of Marvel’s most iconic monster characters. It’s only fitting that they could introduce one of their most iconic monster hunters as well. What’s also interesting to note, is that the article references how both characters share a common enemy – Count Dracula.
The article indicates that this means Werewolf by Night could actually be setting up the plot for the Blade film, in which Blade might be recruiting characters (such as we saw in the post-credits scene for Eternals) to face Count Dracula. Of course, it might be a little too soon to be speculating that far ahead. But with Marvel finally introducing these supernatural and horror-adjacent characters, anything is possible.
