Fans are excited for The Batman, which will introduce a new take on the titular character. Interestingly, the film is also intended to launch a new series of films and spin-offs. Now actor Robert Pattinson, who is portraying Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the film, has teased the possible villain for the inevitable sequel in The Batman 2.
He revealed as much while speaking with Vanity Fair, and his suggestion should be exciting for fans. As it turns out, he teased a possible appearance from the Court of Owls as the villain for the sequel to The Batman.
Here’s how the exchange went:
Pattinson: “I was definitely kind of thinking Court of Owls is probably gonna be in the sequel.”
Dano: “Ooo, don’t say it.”
Pattinson: “It definitely seems like– I mean, I am literally just guessing, I just keep saying it.”
Dano: “Court of Owls would be dope. Good thing it’s not in this film [sarcastic].”
Kravitz: “Or is it?”
Dano: “Or is it?”
This is certainly an exciting possibility, considering the characters have yet to appear in live-action. In fact, only the upcoming Gotham Knights video game will be their first appearance outside of comic books. Nevertheless, they’ve become a major fan-favorite in recent years and they would be a perfect fit for the dark, mysterious world of The Batman.
As for now, fans will still be able to look forward to The Batman. The film was directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay he wrote with Peter Craig.
The Batman stars Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, with the villains including Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. The film also includes Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, and Jamie Lawson as Bella Real.
Audiences will be able to finally see The Batman when it hits theaters on March 4, 2022. We’ll probably receive more news on the planned continuation in The Batman 2 after its release.
