Many fans have been anxious to know what Disney planned to do with their Marvel shows that were previously only available on Netflix. While it was recently announced that the shows would be headed to Disney Plus for Canadian audiences, it remained unknown what they intended to do for US territories. Now we know – Marvel will be moving all of the Netflix shows to Disney Plus for United States audiences as well.
This means fans will soon be able to enjoy Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher all on Disney Plus. What’s more, it’s also been revealed that ABC’s Agents of SHIELD will be joining the roster as well. For parents that might not want their children watching some of these darker properties, however, Disney still has you covered. They’ll be introducing a variety of new parental controls to keep the more mature Marvel projects out of kids’ hands.
As noted in a statement from Michael Paull, President of Disney Streaming:
“Disney+ has served as the home for some of the most beloved brands in the industry, and the addition of these live-action shows brings more from the Marvel brand together, all in one place,” he began.
“We have experienced great success with an expanded content offering on Disney+ across our global markets and are excited to continue that here in the U.S. as well by offering our consumers not only great content with the new Marvel additions, but also a set of features that help ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family.”
This is certainly great news for fans of these Netflix shows that they’re moving to Disney Plus. It was previously suspected that for United States audiences, they would more than likely be moved to Hulu. But it’s clear that Disney wants to keep these projects included with their other major Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. As such, this might even be a clue as to their plans for the future.
