Although the hit animated series The Fairly OddParents ended in 2017, a new incarnation of the beloved Nickelodeon brand is on the way. This time, however, it will be quite different than what fans are expecting. While there have been live-action adaptations of the Fairly OddParents brand in the past, the upcoming project The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder will be the first series to be produced in live-action. It will, however, retain the original animation designs of the fairy characters. Furthermore, the series will be released on Paramount Plus as opposed to Nickelodeon.
It certainly is an interesting change when compared to the source material, and the first official trailer for Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder has also been released online. The footage reveals the new cast of characters, which includes an adult version of Timmy Turner.
Here’s the trailer below:
It’s certainly an interesting trailer, especially since it has to sell the concept of a live-action Fairly OddParents series. For those that aren’t satisfied with just a trailer, however, they won’t have long to wait for the full series. The show will be premiering on Paramount Plus at the end of next month in March.
As for the plot of this new spin-off…
“InĀ The Fairly OddParents, Ty Turner uproots his life to reunite with his high school sweetheart, Rachel Ragland, in the town of Dimmsdale, thrusting his cautious 13-year-old daughter, Viv, into a new world where she does not fit in. Once there, her cousin, Timmy, entrusts his fairy godparents, Wanda and Cosmo, to help her adjust by taking her under their wings. Witnessing the fairy transfer take place, Viv’s new stepbrother, Roy, also inherits them and the two siblings must come together to overcome the obstacles in their path, all with the help from their new wand-wielding and wish-granting fairy godparents.”
The cast for the series includes Audrey Grace Marshall as Vivian “Viv Turner, Imogen Cohen as Zina Zacarias, Laura Bell Bundy as Rachel Ragland, Ryan-James Hatanaka as Ty Turner, and Tyler Wladis as Roy Ragland. Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee will reprise their roles as Cosmo and Wanda, with Daran Norris also voicing Jorgen von Strangle.
