The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gradually started referencing the Netflix shows based on characters like Daredevil and the villainous Kingpin. For example, Daredevil was recently given a quick appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Kingpin was revealed to be one of the larger villains in the Disney Plus series Hawkeye. As such, fans have been questioning the fates of their respective Netflix shows, especially after it was revealed they’d soon be taken off the streaming service. Now we know that these Marvel Netflix shows are actually moving to Disney Plus, at least in Canada.
This information was revealed in a press release for Disney Plus in Canada, as shared via Twitter user @shayhbaz. As they summed it up:
“#DisneyPlus will be the new home of the Netflix Marvel Shows on March 16th @DisneyPlus @Marvel @DisneyPlusCA”

This means that Disney Plus users in Canada will soon be able to watch Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders all on the Disney streaming service. The shows will all be made available to stream on March 16, 2022. Unfortunately, it’s currently unknown what the distribution plans for other countries and territories will be. It’s possible that they could be streaming in the US and other such countries on the same date, though we don’t yet have that information.
It’s also worth noting that given the darker and more mature content featured in these shows, they might not be placed on Disney Plus in the US at all. It seems possible that they could appear on Hulu, which currently has some of Marvel’s more mature adaptations available to stream, or even the Star hub that features properties from Fox and other Disney subsidiaries. As such, it’ll be interesting to see how Disney continues to distribute these shows and how they plan to further acknowledge them as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Until then, we at least know that users in Canada will be receiving them on their version of Disney Plus.
